Attempted Robbery At Maryland Home Turns Deadly For Would-Be Burglar: Police

A burglar in Maryland picked the wrong house on the wrong night.

Police say that a homeowner in Prince George's County took matters into his own hands when a burglar attempted to forcibly enter his home, leading to what became a fatal altercation.

Officers from the Bowie Police Department were called shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23 to the 2700 block of Balsam Place, where there was a report of a residential burglary.

During the ensuing scuffle, police say that the burglar sustained an injury to his upper body, and he was taken to the Bowie Health Center, where he later died.

According to investigators, the fatal incident is not believed to be random and was likely a targeted break-in.

The incident remains under investigation.
